Panamá Digital Nomad Visas

The new visa allows foreigners employed by companies operating outside of Panama or who are self-employed to live and work remotely from Panama for nine months with a one-time extension for an additional nine months.

To be eligible for this visa, applicants must have a minimum annual income of USD 36,000 and must demonstrate that their income is from a foreign source through a bank certification or bank statement from their bank.

Visa application requirements include:

  1. Application form, which includes the applicant's commitment to assume the costs of returning to their country of origin or destination.
  2. Three passport-size photographs.
  3. Certified copies of passport.
  4. Certification of criminal record, duly apostilled or authenticated by the Panamanian embassy or consulate in the country that issued it.
  5. Certificate of good health issued by a physician registered in Panama.
  6. A medical insurance policy that must include coverage for the period of stay in Panama,

  8. Affidavit of Non-Acceptance of job or service's offer in Panamá.
  9. Certification of registration of the foreign company where the applicant works, duly apostilled or legalized by the Panamanian Embassy or Consul in the country of issuance of the document.
  10. Letter from the company, duly apostilled or legalized by the Panamanian Embassy or Consul, in letterhead, signed by the legal representative, stating:
    1. The petitioner's general information.
    2. The position and functions performed,
    3. Monthly income. The applicant's monthly income cannot be less than three thousand dollars (USD 3,000.00) or its equivalent in foreign currency, periodicity of payments, and that the income comes from a foreign source.
    4. Modality of work (remote work)
    5. Commitment to assume the costs of return or repatriation to their country of origin, if necessary.
  11. Self-employed applicants must provide certification or proof of their own company, duly registered abroad, through which they will conduct their business and an affidavit describing the company's commercial activity, the services rendered, the clients to whom they provide their services, and their income, duly apostilled or legalized by the Panamanian Embassy or Consul in the country of issuance of the document.
  12. Proof of domicile in Panamá: rental agreement and a copy of the electricity, water bill, or other bill related to the premise duly notarized by a Panamanian Notary.

All documents issued abroad must be apostilled or legalized, as well as all documents in another language must be translated into Spanish.

The approximate expenses related to the issuance of this visa are:

USD 250.00 certified check issued in favor of the National Immigration Service.
